Ever since the Madderlake Designs conservatory pictures made their way through the blogosphere back in January, I have been on the lookout for more inspiration pictures.
One of my favorite features of our old house in Chicago was having a sunroom. Granted a sunroom pales in comparison to a conservatory, but it was still nice, particularly during the winter months, to be indoors and still be able to soak up the sun.
What's the difference between a conservatory and a sunroom you ask? A conservatory has glass windows for walls and ceilings! A sunroom has regular walls with windows installed and regular roof, with insulation etc. Some sunrooms also have a skylight.
I suppose one could argue that even with double pane or triple pane windows, a conservatory is not as warm in the winter as a sunroom with insulated walls and ceilings.
Nevertheless, I still find conservatories absolutely beautiful and would love to have one off the back of my house some day.
Here are some inspiring pictures from across the internets...
Let's start with the design by Madderlake Designs that got the blogotown talkin'
